It would be difficult to begin a review of Banda Grande without mentioning our host, Jan. Originally from the Netherlands, Jan is an aficionado of the Salta region, well versed in travel, history, agriculture - and he’s a superb (and humorous) conversationalist. His family estate there is gargantuan and you feel totally secluded in nature upon arrival. All of the meals at Banda Grande were exceptional. The breakfast was made fresh with great variety - quite different from other inns or hotels along the circuit (this was my third road trip through the region). The dinner as well was outstanding. The steaks come right off the ranch and rival anything I’ve had around the globe (I suggest having the, “al punto”). The beef was accompanied by fresh grilled vegetables, homemade accompaniments (outstanding chimichurri) - and of course unforgettable Malbec wine - all with a crackling fire nearby. The next day following breakfast, we took a two hour horseback ride thru the estate passing sheep, cows, other horses all while getting a an explanation of the farm, its crops, etc., from our guide. It’s well worth noting, and one of the reasons I leave this review, that in the trips I’ve taken around Salta, Jan’s place is the only authentic ranch inn that perfectly breaks up the drive between Cachi and Cafayate. If you’re stopping in Colomé for wine tasting and the James Turrell installation (which you should not miss if you’re a fan of spatial art), then you don’t get on the road to Cafayate until around 2:30 or 3:00 - and that makes the day too long for me. Staying and Banda Grande was the stop that I’ve been missing… Get up fresh, enjoy the morning at the ranch, then you get to take your time taking in Quebrada de las Flechas and still get into Cafayate for happy hour, shopping, and people watching… I’ll definitely visit Jan and his crew again if I decide to bring more friends on another tour of the circuit!

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Aufenthalt auf der Estancia. Eine sehr familiäre und herzliche Atmosphäre, alles war sauber und gepflegt. Das gesamte Team war gastfreundlich und hilfsbereit. Jan ist ein wunderbarer Gastgeber und bemüht sich sehr, den Aufenthalt für jeden Gast perfekt zu machen.
Die Lage ist traumhaft – absolute Ruhe, eine grandiose Aussicht und viel Freiheit, sich auf dem Gelände zu bewegen.
Das Essen war unglaublich lecker - mit grandiosem Ausblick.
Die Canyon Tour war ebenso ein tolles Erlebnis.
Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und werden wieder kommen.
Alles super.

Fantastic landscape, fantastic people. I visited a times before at the Estancia and every time I come here I come to a complete rest. Breakfast and dinner always delicious in a perfect environment

La comida es muy buena y está muy bien presentada.
Nos gustó mucho su ubicación, y el paisaje.
Los cuartos deberían ser más caros e incluir la comida y ciertas cabalgatas.
Porque no es un lugar fácil de llegar y es conocido por sus cabalgatas.
Todo debería venderse como un paquete.
