Great location, close to the beach and within easy walking distance of a street with a few restaurants. The area itself is relatively quiet, which we appreciated. The kitchen was well equipped and convenient for preparing a simple breakfast or snack, and the coffee pod machine was clean and worked well. The bathroom was also thoughtfully designed.
Our ground-floor unit had some significant privacy, security and noise issues. The unit is directly next to the main entrance, and the single-pane windows face the driveway, so we could hear and see cars coming and going, with headlights shining into the bedroom. Because the unit is also immediately beside the entrance door, we heard guests coming in and out at all hours (everyone had to slam the door to surpass the lock mechanism).
Safety-wise, the upstairs units may be a better choice. The door of the apartment unit itself is a large frosted-glass pane on a light aluminium frame, which made the unit feel less private and secure than we would have expected. The bedroom door is also one big glass pane, which allowed a lot of light from the hallway and living area into the bedroom - why have a door at all if it's going to be glass? On our second night, there was an upsetting incident involving someone outside who was screaming in the street and then violently tried to open the property's front door. I was genuinely terrified that he might try to break through the bedroom windows, particularly given how exposed and accessible the ground-floor unit felt. It was a very unsettling experience and made us feel unsafe.
The bathroom had very limited ventilation, and our towels never fully dried. It consequently felt quite humid and sticky throughout our three-night stay.
We also found the use of the garden and pool area unclear. On our second evening, another group sat down for dinner in the garden directly outside our unit, awkwardly sitting directly in front of the living room windows and sliding door. We contacted the host, who eventually confirmed that the garden was intended for our unit and that the other guests should not have been there. However, we did not feel comfortable confronting them ourselves. Better communication with all guests about which outdoor spaces are private and which are shared would avoid this kind of awkward situation.
