LOCATION: La Maison de Piolon was a wonderful base for exploring Provence: peaceful and secluded at the foot of Mont Ventoux, yet perfectly positioned for discovering the surrounding villages, vineyards and countryside. Malaucène is just a short drive away, while Le Barroux, Brantes and the Gorges du Toulourenc are all within easy reach.
EXPERIENCE: What really makes Piolon special are Isabelle and Jan. A particular highlight was the table d’hôtes dinner — a delicious meal served in the courtyard under the shade of an old tree. Their local tips were invaluable too, taking us from tiny villages and beautiful walks and cycle routes to great restaurants we would never have discovered ourselves. Their knowledge and genuine love of the area added enormously to our stay.
ACCOMMODATION: We stayed in one of the spacious gîtes, with a bedroom and sitting room upstairs, kitchenette downstairs and our own outdoor area. The converted farmhouse has lovely shared spaces too, with little corners for breakfast, reading or a glass of wine, and a beautiful, peaceful pool. We especially loved the thoughtful touches — from the honesty-bar fridge to being encouraged to pick fresh figs straight from the trees.
At the end of our Provence trip, we did our own little “end-of-trip awards”: favourite wine, favourite meal, etc. One category was “The place where we most seriously thought: could we live here?”
The answer was La Maison de Piolon. We came looking for a beautiful base to explore Provence; it ended up being one of the highlights of the trip itself - a genuine home away from home.

Nous avons adoré notre séjour à la maison Piolon, tout était propre et décoré avec beaucoup de goût. Rien n’est laissé au hasard et les hôtes sont très accueillants, aux petits soins et nous ont fait sentir très à l’aise.

Wat een geweldige locatie! Wij hebben 3 hele relaxte dagen gehad, genoten van deze super sfeervolle Bed & Breakfast en de mooie omgeving van de Mont Ventoux. De oude boerderij is binnen en buiten echt prachtig, heerlijke rustige tuin met zwembad en fantastisch uitzicht over de wijngaarden en lavendel velden, goede bedden en een hele gastvrije ontvangst. Aan alles is gedacht, handdoeken bij het zwembad, drankjes beschikbaar, verschillende zitjes in de tuin en op de binnenplaats, afgesloten garage voor fietsen. De eigenaren Jan en Isabelle zijn super gastvrij en hebben ons veel tips gegeven voor het fietsen en de omgeving. Ik vergeet vast nog van alles, bij twijfel gewoon boeken!
