2 Comfortable Rooms w/ Nearby Edgewood Attractions

For our room, sheets and towels were changed out often enough but the room itself hadn't had a full cleaning in some time, apparently. I don't know the exact combination of hair, dust and whatever else that was plastered to the small luggage rack over the closet bar in the bathroom, but it was thick enough to shed layers; I had to brush it off my hanging clothes before dressing. I used the first washcloth to wipe up whatever greasy film was clinging to the vanity top before putting my hands down on it. And the floor had bits of trash, food, not sure what-- from guests before us. I kept something on my feet at all times. On a better note, there were no bugs. The mattresses in our room were more like sleeping on a box spring; no padding and too firm for comfort. There were some pillows flat enough to serve as makeshift mattress pads, which actually did help, and the one pillow with some loft and shape was, in fact, pretty good for sleeping. The front desk lady was very nice and helpful at check-in and check-out. We didn't take advantage of the breakfast offered, so I can't comment but trust it was nice. I would not come back to this property as it is right now. The middle stairway, that passes the house laundry, is downright scary-- and I don't scare easy. It's clear that there's work to be done for this very old building and I hope that it's in progress.
