Our stay was a real adventure – right in the middle of the jungle and very close to the ocean, perfect for surfing. The accommodation has no solid walls, doors or windows; the sleeping area is protected by nets and curtains. You are truly living in nature. The wildlife was incredible: agoutis, monkeys, countless birds, raccoons, spiders and even scorpions were part of our everyday life. In fact, the wildlife comes to you here, so you hardly need Manuel Antonio National Park! Of course, this also comes with challenges. We had a daily “Who is going to win?” game with the animals trying to get our food. Monkeys, raccoons and mice managed to open jars, chew through Tupperware and get into containers we thought were secure. As a family, it was an unforgettable experience, although after four days we were ready for more comfort. The house is completely on its own, with no neighbouring houses around, and is very shady and therefore constantly damp. Clothes hardly dry, and heavy rain can make the nights extremely loud. Personally, as a woman travelling alone, I would not have felt comfortable sleeping so exposed to nature, even with the nets and curtains. As a family, however, we loved the adventure and will remember it for a long time. The housekeeping staff were very friendly and came by daily. They spoke little English but always tried their best to communicate. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a genuine jungle adventure and willing to trade comfort for an authentic experience.
A small suggestion for improvement: It would be great to have a dedicated food storage cupboard or pantry that is really secure and animal-proof – ideally lockable and reinforced with a strong mesh or metal grid, so that even the cleverest hands and strongest little teeth cannot get in. Otherwise, the wildlife seems to become more and more inventive – and cheeky! 😉

The property is right in front of pan dulce surf break. You can walk your board there and surf every morning. You can also rent surfboards at the place as well. Jose, the ground keeper, was amazing and extremely friendly. Even with his limited Spanish, he helped us a lot. We mainly communicated through Angelica, who is the chef there and speak good English, although she only comes on the property when cooking. She did help us arrange horseback riding tour at Rancho Piro which was a very awesome experience. lots of reviews prior has said there r limited eating options, but we were able to make do with restaurants nearby such as Martina’s, Lapa Rios, and Encanta La Vida. Angelica does provide meal services to your room but you have to book ahead of time and only if she is available.
The open wall concept lets a lot of bugs in and mosquitoes. Would be nice to put up some nets for insect control. One of the bed, closer to the kitchen, always had ants on it in the morning. Because of the lack of AC, the property gcould also provide more fans to make the accommodation more comfortable. A cloth drying area would be a nice touch, as we did not have many places to hang dry our swimsuits after the surf sessions. More lighting would also be nice, especially by the bed at night.

The fans made a lot of noise but they brought in a nice one for us instead
