Khampaseuth Hotel

I’d booked a Superior Double Room for three nights. On arrival, I was told by the wonderful Lisa on reception, that I was getting a free upgrade to a double room with balcony, something with which I was well pleased. As it turned out, the balcony was a real bonus. It was long, quite narrow, but had three chairs. (I sat on one and used the other two as tables.) I spent most of my evenings sitting there, reading or just enjoying the atmosphere. The immediate views weren’t great, overlooking a bit of a scrappy backyard area, but further off, there was a near 180 degree arc of mountains. Most of the time, it was quiet, with occasional noise of traffic from the nearby road. The room itself was lovely: very spacious, comfortable bed, plenty of desk/counter space, and a kind of dresser with mirror and lockable drawer. It also had a small refrigerator, kettle and cups. There was also a table and a couple of comfie. The TV is old and not flat screen, but I never used it, so that was not a problem for me. The room had both a fan and a very efficient and quiet air conditioner. The bathroom was also spacious. The shower water was warm and the pressure was good. The hotel has something of a grand, old-worldy feel to it, with wide stairways and corridors, and lots of dark wood. Breakfast is in a large hall-like place, that could probably do with a bit of a sprucing up. The breakfast choice is limited, being mainly variations on eggs (fried, scrambled or as omelette) with added bits of ham or sausage, plus a selection of fresh fruit. Tea, coffee and some kind of fruit-flavoured drinks are also available. I should say that, during my time there, the swimming pool was not available for use. If you are considering booking, you might want to ask what the situation will be during your stay. The main part of Vang Vieng is about a twenty-minute walk away, along a very rough, unsurfaced, heavily-potholed road, without any real pavement.

I was a little disappointed that the swimming pool was not in use. However, this did not spoil what was a thoroughly enjoyable stay at this lovely hotel.

Nice staff, big pool and lovely pancakes for breakfast

We stayed 8 nights at Khampaseuth Hotel and which we could have stayed more! The facilities were great, places to sit outside in the evening and have a drink, fab pool with sunlight on it all day, lovely rooms and great great staff. Lisa is an amazing host and will go out of her way to help with literally anything. Couldn’t recommend enough.

the staff were lovely and very eager to help with anything. it is great value for money and breakfast was included.

it wasn’t the cleanest. the rooms were cleaned every day but there were ants in our room. breakfast was included but bit of a poor selection and the cutlery and fruit some mornings had flies all over them. the walk to the town is mostly road without a path which is a bit annoying
