Nice location close to the Sinharaja entrance and good birding spots, a calm place near the river and a decent base for exploring the area.. The property itself is quite pleasant and has a lot of potential. Good breakfast and nice local dinner options (excellent rice and curry). Overall good stay with minor but noticeable issues that should be addressed by the owner.
The manager tried to add a 10% service charge on top of the Booking price with taxes and charges. I had to argue with the owner to resolve it. The corridor was not cleaned during our 3 day stay and was full of dead insects, which can happen in nature but still should be handled. The access road can be a bit difficult, if you come with your own car.

Very happy with our stay here. This is a family-run lodge so it's not super fancy, but the hosts make you feel so welcome especially by cooking so so many dishes for breakfast and dinner. Easily the best home cooking I've had in Sri Lanka. The hosts are super nice, and the room has an amazing view on the river edge (as per the name), and you can swim in the river, which is nice. It is a close walk to Doranella entrance and the location is secluded from the main roads and village so it's great if you're looking for more privacy.
There is no internet- but all accomodation in the area is without internet and the town itself does not have any mobile coverage so be prepared. The soap in the bathroom was already used - I like that they like to recycle, but I think most guests would be expecting new soap.
