A beautiful guest house with outstanding staff. And the comforts in the room were lovely: Fluffy towels and robes. Restaurant on premise also is really good. A lovely place to stay at in Clan William. Perfectly central.

What a gem!! The only place to be in Clanwilliam. Friendly staff, helpful and goes the extra mile to ensure all is to your liking and comfort. I loved everything about the Ochre and Ash. Tastefully decorated. With a restaurant on site for dinner, you can't ask for more convenience. They serve a delicious breakfast with a lovely setting. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Make sure you check-in with Samantha and you are in safe hands. Safe and secure parking available.

Disappointing value for the price
We paid R2,600 for our stay at Ochre & Ash and, unfortunately, felt that the experience did not justify the price.
On arrival, we received a very friendly welcome and found the staff helpful and pleasant. The bed was also extremely comfortable, which we appreciated.
However, the room itself was relatively compact for this price point. The bathroom floor appeared to be dirty, and the shower design resulted in much of the bathroom floor becoming very wet, making it quite slippery and something guests should be careful of.
Our bedroom was situated directly adjacent to a staff room and toilet, which meant there was fairly constant activity and noise next door. The bathroom windows also overlooked part of this area, which affected the sense of privacy.
The room had been heavily sprayed with room fragrance before our arrival. The smell was overwhelming, and we had to open the door for some time to air the room.
We were also disappointed by our experience at the on-site Smoke House restaurant. Although we had a booking, the staff appeared to have no record of it. We were simply pointed towards a table, where we found dirty cutlery piled up. After waiting without receiving any service, we eventually decided to leave.
There are certainly positives — particularly the friendly arrival, helpful staff and very comfortable bed — but at R2,600 per night, we expected a considerably higher standard of accommodation, attention to detail and overall guest experience.
