I loved spending time outdoors, cooking and sitting under the stars by the fire. The staff was incredibly kind, helping us with everything and giving us a tour of the animals.

They were super accommodating when our travel plans were held up by road closures, waiting up to allow us to check in. Really pleasant and nice when we arrived, put us at ease for being late. Good contact throughout our journey. Allowed us to stay later in the morning since there were no guests checking in and we had arrived late so hadn't had the chance to make the most of their place. That was appreciated.
Could have been a little more engaging in the morning. Host was responsive via message but we didn't see him. We had some questions and wanted to see the animals, ask about hiking in the area etc. Maybe understandable since we were late, but it wasn't that late. It's still a great place though and overall the host was great, very accommodating.

Cuyama Oaks was a wonderfully fun and comfy oasis in a very remote part of California. "Glamping" has trended toward luxury. And the beds in our yurt were exceptional and the shower was warm and spacious. But Cuyama Oaks is not otherwise fancy like some glamping locales (and it's a lot less expensive!). It is quirky and fun and a comfy alternative to camping in a very peaceful place. We were traveling by bike on a multi-day trip so the camp worked out great for us and our need for a good night's sleep and a neat outdoor kitchen for coffee and breakfast before we headed out on the final leg of our journey.
The toilets were clean and private but a bit too funky maybe. Maybe chem toilets are in the future?
