Nightmare - no running water / no fan / dirty - disrespectful and deceitful owner

Best would have been if it was not available, so I would have spared the bad taste and the stress it caused at the end of our Summer holidays. Half of the ratings given have no comments, perhaps owner's friends have written reviews to improve the rating and get people to hire this flat. Conditions are poor and the owner is very disrespectful.

1. DIRTY. The apartment was dirty. There was an old gluey stain on the floor next to the entrance door. There were shoe prints on the floor over the whole apartment. There was mold in the shower. Shower drain was clogged. The bathroom and kitchen counters had water stains. I don't think the apartment was cleaned before we arrived. It was so disgusting, we did not dare to walk barefoot or use the kitchen before cleaning. 2. FAN MISSING. After the first night we noticed the fan listed in the Booking ad was missing, the temperature outside (33-38C) and in the apartment (30C) was raising so we asked the owner to provide us with a fan. Problem denied. 3. NO RUNNING WATER. In the afternoon of the second day there was no water. We couldn’t shower, clean dishes or flush the toilet. Problem ignored. 4. DISRESPECT-/ DECEITFUL OWNER. When we reached out to the owner to solve the problems, her answer was disrespectful. She insisted that there was a fan and insinuated I was lying about it. I asked her to come to assert my request and she said there was nothing she could do. When I proposed to help us by accepting us to check out earlier without penalty she told me I should have hired a place with airco, and insisted there was a fan in the apartment. Her answer about the water problem was that she was not a plumber and that someone would come 'next' week. No commitment to solve any of the problems. Never showing empathy or respect. We left the next morning as conditions were unbearable. We tried to mediate via Booking client services, but she keep lying and dismissing the problems in the apartment. We suspect this person is deliberately trying to deceive people. 5. UNCOMFORTABLE. The stairs getting to the apartment were uneven, the last top step very high and dangerous. Uncomfortable bed and sleeping couch. Small unstable dining table. Leaking coffee maker. The neighbourhood felt unsafe, there were drunks and junkie people on the street causing nuisance.

It was available

The water was intermittent in the bathroom the first night and there was no water in the bathroom at all the second night. We contacted the host via WhatsApp with no response. So, after a run in the morning, all day at Plage Metz, and walking the city we couldn’t shower or flush the toilet. The stairs getting to the apartment were uneven and would be difficult for older guests or small children. Similarly the stairs in the apartment were also uneven and dangerous for older guests and small children. The shower was not very clean, looks like mildew or mold in the corners; also the shower doesn’t drain so the pools to the point of overflowing; the shower head is caked in calcium buildup. The coffee maker leaks water even when not in use. The neighborhood is not the worst I have ever been in, but it doesn’t feel the safest either. The beds are not comfortable.
