Holiday from hell

The location was very convenient and having a washing machine and a tumble dryer available definitely helped.

Things can go wrong in any accommodation. What really tells you what kind of place you booked is what happens next. Here, unfortunately, that was the worst part. We arrived at the agreed check-in time to find the apartment still exactly as the previous guests had left it: used linen, towels, rubbish and dirt. Three hours later, we finally got in. Then the first shower flooded the bathroom. Inches of dirty water came back through the drain and from underneath the shower tray. No one showed up to help, so we had to use the available towels to contain the water. The repair eventually happened almost 24 hours later but clean towels only arrived the following evening, so 2 days after the incident. The bathroom itself was cleaned several days later and only after repeated requests. When I asked for the dirty towels to be collected, I was helpfully reminded that there was a washing machine upstairs and, if they bothered me so much, I could wash them myself. Curiously, while we were still waiting for clean towels, somebody did manage to deliver us a duvet. In Malta. In August. Priorities... For a 10-night stay for two adults, we were given 250–300 ml of shower gel and two rolls of toilet paper. When we asked for more, we were told these were only provided at check-in. It certainly would have helped to know that complimentary toiletries came with an unofficial rationing programme. Despite being promised some form of compensation, directly and through Booking, they finally let me know that, since the problems had eventually been resolved, there would be none. An interesting philosophy: apparently, once a problem is eventually fixed, the hours or days of your holiday spent dealing with it and chasing the host for a solution simply cease to have happened. The apartment itself could have been perfectly adequate. The real problem was the astonishing lack of urgency, care and accountability throughout the stay. Definitely memorable. Just not for the reasons you would hope.

I loved my stay, Authentic studio was an heaven after the long day walking and discovering Malta, the bed was very comfo

The property was clean, I really liked the decor. The kitchen upstairs is very practical and being able to throw a wash is a plus. Location is close to everything, at night it was blissfully quiet. There is no view from the window but plenty in Malta to discover.

Nothing, I would come back again.
