This house has an absolutely breath-taking view over the cliffs and the bay in De Kelders. The location is fantastic. We fell in love with the house instantly. Looking over the horizon and the ocean and seeing whales jump was an experience we will absolutely always remember. We were over the moon staying at the house for 5 nights, we had the most amazing time together forgetting about the world and just enjoying the view and the whales. The house is very confortable and super well equipped. The site manager, Stefani, is lovely and very reactive. Loved the gas fire place, it was amazing looking at the ocean in winter while being on the couch next to the fire. We were also happy to find a washing machine and a tumble dryer in the garage.
One thing came to ruin the good time though : in the middle of our stay we had to let the manager come into the house and inspect it because the owners didn’t believe us when we said we were only 4. And why did it happen ? Because the owners are looking at their guests through the camera system during the stay. So we rented the whole house but were spied on. It’s creepy. We invited 4 family members for lunch one day and the owner made a huge problem out of it saying that despite the house having 3 bedrooms we can only be 4 overnight. Our family had actually left left already (after spending just the afternoon with us) but they still sent the manager the next morning so she could go check that no one slept in the third bedroom. Also, we had two friends join us for 2 nights. And that was a problem too because apparently you need to pay more if you have more people in the house even if you rented the entire house !! They told us it was about cleaning fee, so does that mean they don’t clean the three bedrooms after each tenants ? In the end we had to show them that it was the same price on Booking.com for 2 and 4 guests to avoid paying them fees. So in the end, despite that we didn’t break any rule, we still had to let their employee in the house on Saturday morning so she could check the unused beds and look at our friends. A whole morning of stress in the middle of our stay.
