This hotel is part of the Relais & Chateaux group of hotels so it is a luxury property. It is absolutely stunning and worth the price. The breakfast buffet was outstanding with eggs made to order. The restaurant has two tasting menu options. I don’t normally like tasting menus so we ordered à la carte but also received a number of extra dishes. The quality of the food and presentation was exceptional. Don’t miss out on the tasting menu. The rooms are built into the old cave dwellings but have all modern amenities. Finally the outdoor lounge is a great place for a pre-dinner drink. There is a small spa although we did not use it. The staff are all efficient and responsive. Highly recommend for those who are not price-sensitive.

What an excellent experience. The service spectacular. Rooms so comfy that we slept so well. The spa is worth a try. Francesco and Simone did a great massage.

We are traveling across Italy staying only at Relias and Chateaux hotels. Vetera Matera set the bar high as our first stop!
They upgraded us to a beautiful suite. The customer service was unmatched and the included breakfast was ironically our favorite meal in Matera.
Highly recommend staying here!
