The 2 night stay itself was lovely - brilliant location, sparse but stylishly furnished, enough space for all 3 of us, projection TV is a definitive wow, underfloor heating makes it cosy, beds fairly comfy, plus the assured parking space, wine rack, and the wee garden to gaze out upon were a nice addition. I sat here by the rear door and enjoyed a brilliant view of a thunderstorm. The rain pitter-pattering on the big leaves made it all rather beautiful. We were nearing the end of our annual European trip and needed this stop for a moment to simply breathe, wash and dry some clothes, and just chill for a bit. This house ticked almost all the boxes. My only very minor gripes with the house are the following: 1) The absence of a basin to wash your hands in the very dinky toilet room. You have to walk down a small flight of stairs, through to the back of the house to do so. 2) The garden is mostly unusable due to being overgrown. Still pretty though. 3) The double room not being truly private. Those sleeping in the twin room must pass through the double to access the stairs. Not an issue for us but might be for you! 4) Strange electrics! Took a while to figure out how to control the lights. Again, just a minor issue and solved quickly. *Note: I always double check for potential hidden charges (like sizeable deposits or cleaning charges) and the listing stated NONE of these so I took screenshots for my records, and booked.

Being WhatsApp-ed a cleaning charge the next night! And paying part of the city tax with my booking but being asked to pay ALL of it to the proprietor. €70 total was requested. Btw, we're tidy respectful folk so we always leave properties as clean as humanly possible so the cleaning charge came as a bit of a shock, especially as there was no previous mention of it. Such a pity as we really liked the place and a very disappointing way to end a lovely stay but in total fairness to the proprietor, he insisted the charge was stated in the listing but my screenshots prove it wasn't. Ultimately he did not pursue the charge. The city charge bothered me too. Unclear why I paid a portion but was expected to pay in full later. This would mean I'd be paying more than due. It should be either built into the price or not. My advice is to go stay at this property (it IS lovely!) but ask any questions about hidden charges before booking. And always take screenshots..

Very small towels, garden was overgrown and unusable.

Zeer gezellig en uitstekend gelegen huisje. Met parkeerplaats voor de deur en tuinset aan het water. Heel goed uitgeruste keuken met alle materialen en tuintje. Zeer goede service van eigenaar. Edam is prachtig plaatsje, zouden er zo kunnen wonen.

Voor kleine kindjes niet geschikt omwille van steil trapje. Badkamer wat aan kleine kant.
