Villa Zefiros was our worst accomodation in 15 years world-wide
The villa has a private pool with seaview.
The three adjacent houses Zefiros, Scirocco, and Ostria—also known as Anemologio Villas—are marketed by the same owner, Panagiotis.
Villa Zefiros was the dirtiest and most run-down accommodation we had rented worldwide in the last 15 years. The condition was so poor that we decided to spend only one night there, to write off the rent that we had already prepaid for two weeks, and to rent another accommodation. The owner was unamenable to any criticism as has been noted in a review of the villa Scirocco in August 2025.
Only after having been approached by booking.com did the owner agree to refund 6 of 14 nights.
Here the details that we have documented with photos.
1. The entire accommodation had an intense mouldy smell that took your breath away when we entered the villa.
2. The bedding was dirty and blood stained upon arrival. We also found foreign hair in the bedding.
3. All furniture was old, worn, and damaged.
4. All surfaces and light switches were dirty and sticky.
5. The windows had not been cleaned for a long time. The landlord remarked that the windows would look the same again shortly after cleaning, so it was not worth cleaning them.
6. There were food scraps in the kitchen. All the dishes, cutlery and cooking utensils were so dirty that we were disgusted.
7. The floor had not been mopped for a long time.
8. There was black mould in the shower.
9. The tiny living room had only one small and very uncomfortable sofa, even though the description showed a second sofa. This “living room” was unusable.
10. The mattress was as hard as concrete.
11. You can't sleep without a sleep mask because a row of LEDs in the hallway indicating the emergency exit that shine directly into your face.
11. You're not allowed to throw used toilet paper into the toilet. You have to dispose of used toilet paper in a small bucket next to the toilet.
13. The internet connection is not secure.
14. The entire outdoor area is extremely unkempt.
