Hosts were wonderful and exceeded my expectation to accommodate my needs.

With the cost, I think everything provided was superb. However, heat pump and having a proper kitchenette or sink to wash dishes would have been added bonus but not a great miss as weather was not too cold to bear.

Great ensuite, central to blenheim, excellent value, good communication

Internal walls aren't particularly sound proof but still quiet location overall. No internal door locks.

The bathroom was the highlight, being newly renovated. The bedroom was reasonably comfortable and spacious.

The communication with the hosts was non-existent. There was a mobile number on a sticky note on a door to what we thought was the kitchen/common area, but no one responded when we called and texted it to get the door unlocked. I also messaged the hosts via booking.com and got nothing back. We had to knock on the front door of the house - because this place is a just a large residential house belonging to a family with rooms rented out - and a young boy answered the door and showed us to the "kitchen". The kitchen was a messy, dirty garage with some cooking facilities in one corner. It was nothing short of squalor. There were cockroaches in the cutlery/utensil drawers, and the oven was so full of pots, pans and chopping boards that it was unusable - why was it used for storage and not for its actual purpose?? There was a set of commercial fridges in the corner with a motor so loud it was like a plane taking off (I'm glad our room wasn't close enough to this to hear it all night). There were shelves with the room number labeled on each, but room 2 was full of food and we had just arrived, so clearly they aren't cleaned out regularly. I understand that basic accommodation is basic, but cockroaches in cupboards and benches coated in oil is pushing it. Do not recommend, and will not be returning.
