Host is a CROOK!! Hasn’t entertained confirmed booking, refused refund: total SCAM!
It’s hard to like something after getting scammed!
I booked Dan Beach Apartment for 1 night (4 adults + 1 child). The listing clearly showed capacity for 11 people at time of booking. A few days later, the host called saying he couldn’t host 5 pax, then changed his mind. Later, he called again claiming “renovations” and cancelled the booking… Even though it was already confirmed and fully paid for.
Since it was a confirmed reservation, I submitted a cancellation request through Booking.com, which the host ignored, pretending he never received the notification. He keeps insisting he must be paid by Booking.com first before refunding me… A blatant lie and against Booking.com’s policies.
This host is dishonest and manipulative. He should be permanently banned from the platform. Travelers, avoid this scam at all costs.

Dear Booking.com Customer Service,
Good morning. I am writing to express my complete dissatisfaction regarding a recent booking I made through your platform. Below are the details:
Property: Dan Beach Apartment (Dan Callar, Trou d’Eau Douce, Mauritius 42213)
Booking Number: 43965622881
Stay Dates: 10 May 2025 to 11 May 2025
Amount Paid: €104.62
Booking Date: 10 May 2025
Payment Method: [State bank of mauritius Credit Card.]
Proof: I have confirmation email and bank statement showing successful payment.
When I arrived at the property on 10 May 2025, I contacted the host by phone. He informed me he was not around and could not assist. I explained that I had already paid and had a confirmed reservation. He responded that he could not do anything at the moment but would refund me.
As a result, I was forced to urgently find alternative accommodation at extra cost. My holiday was disrupted, and I felt scammed.
Since then, I have contacted the host multiple times:

27 May
4 June
6 June
11 June
Each time, he either claimed he had not received the payment or told me that the refund was being processed. As of today, I have still not received any refund.
This experience has been extremely distressing, and I feel let down by both the host and the platform. I have turn to Booking.com for immediate assistance.
I kindly request the following:
A full refund of €104.62
Compensation for the inconvenience and additional costs I incurred
Investigation into this host’s reliability and conduct
I have proof of
Confirmation email
Bank proof of payment
Screenshots of my communication attempts (if needed)
Booking.com assistant told me they would revert back to me in 6 days but they never contacted again. And Mr Dan keeps telling me that he will refund me ONLY when he gets the money from booking.com . its now 2 months , and no refund .
