Beautiful and very comfortable. Downstairs has a guest kitchen and several parlors and a few guest rooms. Rooms are large and beautifully decorated and the furniture, especially the beds,, are unusually comfortable.

The Magnolia Inn in Clayton wasn’t quite the cozy Southern getaway I’d pictured. Everything was handled by text or email, so it felt less like staying at an inn and more like trying to schedule a dentist appointment. I met the owner once — blink and you’d miss her — so if you’re dreaming of that classic innkeeper charm, pack your imagination.
The highlight was a somewhat snarkty comment reminding me I hadn’t submitted my breakfast order… while I was *at my son’s wedding.* Sorry, Magnolia, but i was attndign my son's wedding whihc i was hiosting.
All in all, the place was fine. Not awful, not memorable — just “meh with Wi-Fi.” If you want personality, warmth, or even a human conversation longer than three seconds, you might want to keep scrolling.
The process - we had numerous emails and texts saying the same things. Some wartth and interaction from the owner. Lots of noise from the mutiple trains passing by at night
