Great full English breakfast. Location perfect for the coast and exploring surroundings. Good, basic pub food in the evening.

Room - Although basic, the beds were comfortable and the bedroom was lovely and warm. The room smelled clean and had obviously been serviced to a generally good standard. Food - The pub restaurant was the setting for breakfast. Orange juice or apple juice was the choice for drinks. The nice gentleman who served us took our order for everything else, which offered cereal choices, and any combination of a full English breakfast that we wanted. No fruits or anything specialised mentioned however. In fairness, I had the full English breakfast and it was actually really nice, and my wife had scrambled eggs on toast which was done really well too. A limited choice, but what was served was done well.

Room - We did not have a great sleep, which was due to a combination of paper thin walls and noisy neighbours in the nearby bedrooms. The walls were paper thin, and the floorboards creaked everywhere. Also, every time someone entered or left the pub downstairs, the door slammed shut, with the noise reverberating through the entire property. This went on continuously until around 11.30pm We then had to listen to the noisy conversations going on from the rooms next to us, again, due to paper thin walls, and this only ended around half past midnight. If you value a quality sleep, this place is an absolute must to avoid. Also, the decor in the room was extremely dated. The fit and finish of all aspects of the room and furniture was extremely old and in desperate need of replacement and modernisation. Food - As explained already, the food served was done well, but if you also value a quality dining experience as part of your stay, this again is not a place you'd wish to choose. Location - We only chose The Elmer for convenience due to visiting a nearby family member. It's in a mostly residential setting with little amenities nearby. If you want to be located within walking distance of any sort of fun, activities or entertainment, you would not be wise choosing The Elmer. Value For Money - At a little over £100 for a family of 3, including breakfast for one night, it wasn't a bad price. Score Out of 10 - *****4***** - An very underwhelming stay, with a poor night's sleep due to constant noise from the slamming door or the pub belowe the bedroom. Add in paper thin walls allowing every fine and painful detail of your neighbours conversations leaking through until the early hours of the morning. A breakfast that, even cooked well, was one of the most basic offerings for breakfast that we have ever encountered. And, a bedroom that, even clean, was so dated and fitted with furniture and accessories that were all well beyond their life expectancy.
