Hoped for a charming experience, was disappointed.
The apartment is within easy walking distance of the city center, making it a convenient base for sightseeing. The host was responsive and replied promptly to any questions we had before and during our stay.
This apartment wasn't a good fit for our family. It's located at the top of a narrow alley with steep stairs leading to the entrance, which we knew in advance and thought might be charming. However, once inside, there were two additional flights of very narrow, winding stairs just to reach the apartment. The bedrooms are on the entry level, while the kitchen and living area are up yet another flight of stairs. We found ourselves constantly going up and down the staircases, which quickly became tiring.
The listing also states that the apartment sleeps six. While there are three beds, two of them are full-size beds. Our family found those beds too small for two adults or older teenagers to comfortably share. When I asked the host about the sleeping arrangements, I was told the beds had been made up for two people, but we didn't find them suitable for our group.
There were also several discrepancies between the listing photos and the apartment we found. The photos show a TV in one of the bedrooms, but there wasn't one—only the wall mount remained. The listing photos also appear to show both a washing machine and a dryer, but there was only a single machine in the apartment. The amenities list a hot tub, but the apartment has a standard soaking bathtub rather than a hot tub. Finally, the listing mentions a view, but the windows look directly into neighboring buildings, with very little privacy.
On the positive side, the apartment is within easy walking distance of the city center, making it convenient for sightseeing. If you don't mind climbing multiple narrow staircases and the layout works for your group, the location is certainly a plus. For our family, however, the combination of the challenging layout and the differences between the listing and the apartment made this a disappointing stay.
