Disappointing stay — property did not match the photographs or description We booked Hide & Sheep for five nights at £100 per night after seeing the photographs and description on Booking.com. Although some of the photographs were a little unclear in quality, we were very excited about staying here, particularly as we were bringing our little dog. From the listing, the property looked like the perfect place for us, and with a favourable weather forecast we had planned our walks around the area. We also appreciated the thoughtful welcome of fresh cake and milk that had been left for our arrival. Unfortunately, when we arrived, our experience was very different from what we had expected from the Booking.com listing. We stayed for approximately 15 minutes before deciding that the property was not suitable for us and that we could not stay for the five nights we had booked. Arrival and exterior The hut is situated on a working farm, tucked away behind some sheds. On arrival, we were initially unsure whether we had found the correct property. The sign identifying the hut was tired and worn, and alongside it was a “No Admittance” sign, which we found confusing. My husband went to investigate and confirm that we were in the right place. The general appearance of the outside area was considerably more tired and unkempt than the photographs suggested. We appreciate that the recent high temperatures may have contributed to some of the dry and dying vegetation, but there appeared to have been little effort to make the outside area look presentable for arriving guests. There were numerous dead or dying plants, overgrown shrubbery and quite a lot of sharp, old brown holly around the grounds. As we were staying with a dog, the sharp vegetation was a particular concern. There was also AstroTurf leading towards the hut which looked tired and had areas that presented potential trip hazards.
