Nice decorated, good location.
After our stay, the host contacted us privately via WhatsApp regarding two towels that had been stained with makeup/foundation. We acknowledged the stains from the beginning and were willing to resolve the matter fairly. However, the host initially asked us to make a direct PayPal or bank transfer of €24 for two replacement towels. We preferred to have any damage claim handled through Booking.com, as the reservation was made through the platform. The host eventually submitted a damage request through Booking.com, but for €25 rather than the €24 initially requested directly.
To be clear, this is not about the money. I certainly have the dignity to pay €25 for two towels if it is genuinely established that they need to be replaced. What disappointed me was the way the situation was handled and, more importantly, what it made me question about the cleaning and hygiene standards of the property.
The host stated that the towels had already been washed several times and treated with bleach but could not be cleaned. However, according to the WhatsApp timestamps, this was stated approximately two hours after the host first contacted us about the towels. Given this very short timeframe, I found it difficult to understand how several complete washing cycles, plus bleach treatment, could reasonably have been carried out before concluding that the towels were unusable. I’ve seen in the pictures that the towels are washed in the washing machine in the apartment, including on a short cycle. This left us with serious doubts about the laundering process and about whether the towels receive the level of cleaning and hygiene treatment we would expect from accommodation of this type.
What was particularly disappointing was the host’s attitude during this exchange.

Appartement très spacieux et très joliment décoré. Lumières d’ambiance dans toutes les pièces. Bien climatisé. Et surtout un correspondant très pro actif et une très bonne communication. Bon à savoir il parle parfaitement le français. Très bien placé à deux pas du Corso et du Théâtre Massimo tout en étant au grand calme.
Les abords immédiats où se situe l’appartement peuvent déstabiliser mais ne pas oublier que nous sommes à Palerme et qu’il faut apprivoiser notre environnement.

Really clean well designed apartment with everything you need. Beds were really comfortable and the air conditioning worked really well. The host was really helpful and it was in a great location. 5 minute walk to the centre and there was a shop right outside the apartment for all your essentials. We would definitely return 🙂
