GREAT LOCATION AND CLOSE TO EVERYTHING. NOTHING WAS A PROBLEM FOR JANE AND HER STAFF. THEY WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO ENSURE WE HAD A GREAT STAY NOT ONLY AT PRIMROSE BUT IN TONGA ITSELF. HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING HERE. TRUE TONGAN HOSPITALITY. CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK.

Well appointed kitchen, close to town, timely communication from the host, clean and quiet.
A top sheet on the bed would have great, mattress was comfy enough but a little noisey. Payment arrangements were a little complex as unable to make payment via credit card.

The hosts at Primrose Guest House were very communicative and responsive, which we appreciated. They were also flexible in allowing a late checkout when we asked, which was helpful with kids. The space itself is reasonably well set up, with access to a kitchen and a washing machine, which is convenient for longer stays.
We picked this place because of its glowing cleanliness reviews. There were several downsides that significantly impacted our experience. Cleanliness was a major issue — fans were dusty, there were cobwebs, and we encountered cockroaches and ants throughout the stay. While some insects are expected in a tropical climate, the overall level of hygiene felt below acceptable standards. Noise was another problem: guests arrived at odd hours, including around 3 AM, and this made it hard to sleep. Finally, the stay did not feel like good value for money. We paid rates comparable to New Zealand high season pricing, which felt unjustified given the condition of the property and the fact that this was low season in Tonga.
Overall, the hosts’ friendliness and flexibility were positives, but cleanliness, noise, and pricing need improvement to make this a place we’d recommend.
