Awesome place. Staff are happy to help, great facilities, clean, tidy, quiet, and the AC worked well. Not a problem to get your registration. A load of washing cost us 40,000 som. We even ended up coming back for an extra night after our hike in Tajikistan (which they very kindly stored some stuff for us while we were away). Location is fine, it's not right next to the sights but the walk is enjoyable and there's plenty restaurants and shops just down the road.
Like others said the beds are a bit hard. But not a deal breaker. Would stay again if we revisit Samarkand.

So at first we felt quite welcome, but then the problems started occurring. To begin with, the hostel was not able to register us, even resulting in us looking for an other place, since we want to cross the border safely… We were woken up multiple times at 7 in the morning by someone else’s alarms, because the building is anything but soundproof. Later in the evening, the owner’s started excessively cleaning the patio at 8:30 p.m. while all the facilities stayed stinky and dirty and badly equipped without hand soap, toilet paper or a new trash bag, because the other one was overflowing. I had to use the upstairs bathroom because the one on our floor was clogged and I tripped using the stairs because there’s no light.
The bed is as hard as a rock!! A trash bin in each room as well as hangers would be nice.
