Some good aspects & some bad aspects

The bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen were all of a decent standard and size. The location was very good - but it was 22/25 minutes walk to Havelock North shops - not 15 as advertised. The apartment was the ground floor of a house - that meant it was cool in the North Island summer heat (good) but every room apart from the kitchen & bathroom was quite dark (less good). The owners were prompt in responding to our questions or concerns.

We were visiting from the UK & staying 3 1/2 weeks - so we would spend quite a lot of time in the apartment. There was nowhere comfortable to sit (relaxing/reading/watching TV etc.) The dining room and living area were not of the standard we'd expect. The dining room was cramped (less than 3x2 metres) with an opaque window which made it gloomy. A bureau/desk took up much of the space which could have been better utilised with a comfortable chair. The living area was simply unacceptable in rented accommodation. It was a tiny basement area (less than 2x2 metres), down 6 steps, with no window or natural light & no comfortable seating. It was unpleasant to sit in this area which essentially meant there was nowhere comfortable to sit and relax after being out all day.

The noise from the upstairs unit was a bit much at 2:30 am. Might want to look at some noise dampening as it is quite severe at times.
