Because Rogla Lodge is located in a secluded natural setting, the final part of the journey is a little more adventurous — and that's part of the charm of staying in the heart of the forest. 🌿
The final approximately 2.5 km from the village of Skomarje to Rogla Lodge is along an unpaved forest road. This is a natural forest track and may be challenging, particularly in poor weather conditions.
❄️ Winter access
During periods of heavy snow or difficult winter conditions, we strongly recommend a 4x4 vehicle.
Depending on snowfall and current road conditions, snow socks or snow chains may be required for the final 2.5 km.
We recommend checking the weather and road conditions before your arrival and making sure your vehicle is suitable for the conditions.
📶 Internet & mobile reception
Rogla Lodge is located in a peaceful and secluded natural environment, so connectivity is naturally limited.
Wi-Fi is suitable for emails, browsing and basic everyday use, but the internet connection is relatively slow. Mobile reception can also be poor due to the remote location.
During the summer months, storms in the region may occasionally cause temporary interruptions to TV and internet services.

If you are looking for a well equipped, nice mountain lodge in a remote place to enjoy nature, this is a great place. The house is located in the mountains in a spot where you can’t see another house - even though the neighbors are not too far away. You can start hiking right from the door and explore the nearby waterfall, or use it as a starting point to explore Pohorje region. You should be aware that you need to drive some distance on gravel roads but we didn’t have any issues with our car (a family van).
The house is well equipped and in good condition. A highlight was the very nice and caring local housekeeper Valentina as well as Tony (the owner) who also took care that we are enjoying the stay.

Views spectacular, chalet average. You need to be aware of the following;
1. Approach road to the property is one car wide, gravel and 4.1km long and takes 15-20mins. It has some dramatic unprotected drops and the last kilometre is particularly rough, would not be suitable for some drivers nor the sort of road you take a hire car onto where your responsible for any excess and tyres.
2.Arrived in a thunderstorm to the local town and the agent informed us that it was too dangerous to try and go into the mountains and access the property until the storm ended.
3. Arrived no power, water (as pumped) or toilet facilities for 18 hours. So the property is susceptible to power cuts.
4.For us it was advertised with two bathrooms. It actually has one small shower room and one separate toilet.
5.If you wish to use the advertised Hot Tub it is 100 Euros extra.
6. After eight days the hire car needed a car wash otherwise I think we might have lost our excess and it looked like I had been rallying from the road dust.
7.Any misrepresentation of the bathroom numbers, silence in the description of the access road, hot tub costs and lack of being able to use the chalet in a power cut were met with a negative response from the owner.
