Cabins In A Clearing has 3 primitive cabins, meaning no electricity and no running water on the cabin site, built in the woods and is also located in the Hocking Hills of Ohio There is a porch, fire ring and grill, heat is provided. Situated 13 miles from Old Man’s Cave. A double bed with linens is provided in Chestnut Cabin along with night stands, book shelves for clothes, etc., and a cafe table with chairs inside, a divided bench table on the porch and a picnic table in the patio. You can eat at the fire ring on cross-section posts if you like. A water line delivers water to a stand pipe along the driveway in a common area accessible by all. A waterproof usb receptacle is close to and behind the water stand pipe making charging of devices easy. Swimming is not permitted in either of the two ponds. Catch and release fishing is permitted when the pond area is not otherwise being used. Each cabin can host 2 adults comfortably and cots without linens can be provided with an additional cost for up to two kids.
We have now added private shower stalls outside each cabin using water bags heated by the Sun. We tried them and on a 68 degree F day, three hours of direct sun produced heated water in excess of 105 degrees F, as hot as many home showers.

This was a last minute booking for us as our original rental had to be canceled two days before our trip due to issues the owner was having with the rental. This little cabin was clean, semi secluded (it had other cabin neighbors and you could hear/see traffic from the road) but there was a little mildew smell that needed aired out, inside walls look a little water warped. The patio and fire pit area could use some TLC but all functional and worked just fine. Outhouse was super clean. Not sure about the outdoor shower floor being a bed of leaf litter. Def bring flops or something to wear if using. Check in simple. Check out also simple, no long list of complicated rules. Wonderful price over all, we had a fun weekend.

It was everything I was looking for. A primitive site for a weekend of hiking. It was very clean, comfortable, with some nice extra amenities.Like propane heater, extra lights, wash bowl, and pitcher. It was more expensive than I thought a primitive cabin might be. But overall I'm very happy with the experience!

It was very cute and quiet. Besides no electricity, no shower or bathroom, and a messy area around cabin, all was good otherwise !
