YHA Coolangatta Gold Coast

I chose this hostel as I had an overnight layover between an international and domestic Jetstar flight, and this worked out well. The hostel is around a 10min walk from the domestic terminal, and just a little bit further from the international terminal. The hostel is located on a side road that runs parallel to the Gold Coast Highway, so it is easy to access. There is a Subway restaurant nearby and a fuel station for the purchase of last minute supplies. The kitchen was being renovated when I visited, but there were temporary facilities provided which were more than adequate. The showers were good, and the towels were included in the bed price. The staff were excellent, and they were responsive to questions raised on the YHA app.

There was no buffer between the Hostel building and the Gold Coast Highway, and there was traffic noise throughout the night - ear plugs are recommended! There was around 3hours (between 1am-4am) when the traffic was lighter, but outside this period the traffic noise was reasonable, and the windows are single glazed with glass louvre panels above, so the external noise transferred inside.

This is my first experience staying in a backpackers and It’s been such a friendly and supportive environment, the staff are so friendly and the value for money is exceptional! The manager Heather is so kind, professional and helpful, she’s really made my stay extra special whilst going through a really tough time in my life! 🍀 it’s in a great location close to the Coolangatta airport and the beach at Bilinga is so lovely and within a short 10 minute walk! AAA+++

Very close to the airport. We had an early morning flight so was great to just walk there in 5 minutes.

Overpriced. Tiny room with a bed dumped in. Felt a bit dirty in there.
