About this house rental
Renovated to a very high standard, The Winemaker's House sits in the grounds of a Maison D'Maitre which faces the village square in the heart of Canet d'Aude, a village situated on the border of the Minervois and Corbieres wine regions. The gite is set at the rear of an acre of park and grounds with its own private garden and has a completely separate entrance to the main (owners) house. Sitting on your sun lounger on the gite's own pool-terrace you could be forgiven for thinking you were miles from anywhere. In fact you will be 200m from the heart of the village with its shops, bar and facilities. The 12m x 4.5m heated indoor pool sits between the gite and the barns of the manor house. In the summer both ends of the pool room are opened up to the gardens. You can relax on the terrace in the sun knowing the kids wont burn while they play in the pool. Or vice-versa! Inside the gite, the rooms are light and airy with high ceilings and all mod-cons. Downstairs there is a large kitchen diner, separate lounge and a large shower / wc room. Upstairs there are 3 large bedrooms and a family bathroom with full size bath/shower. Outside the gite faces onto its own private courtyard garden with palm trees, tomato plants (help yourself) and fig trees, a large dining terrace / barbecue area, (with lighting for the late evenings) sun loungers, and pool terrace.

A gorgeous gîte, set on the grounds of an old village mansion. Attached to the main house but separated by an indoor pool and secluded enough to ensure privacy. The garden is an excellent sun trap, with wrap around climbers and flowering shrubs teeming with birds and bees. The gîte itself was great for hosting a small group like ours. The well appointed kitchen with a large dining table and sofa and double doors opening out into the garden was perfect for our casual and relaxed break. The lounge was cool and comfortable in the hot weather and had the key tv channels we needed (Eurovision and UEFA cup match!).Our hosts were super helpful, with lots of helpful information and knowledge of the area and on hand if we had any questions or were curious about the village goings on.We had a very warm welcome and a welcome basket of local epicurean delights which we polished off over the week.The village is cute and peaceful. Surrounded by vineyards and within easy commute to Carcasonne, Narbonne and other interesting towns and villages worth visiting.A little group found our week here to be restful and restorative. Just perfect. Would definitely go back at some point and would definitely recommend.

Perfect for easy village living with all the shops you need within a couple of minutes walk. The area offers some of the best food in France and the wine from Parazza Chateau is memorable. The cycling is along quiet and safe backroads with a mix of flat and hilly areas to explore. A great property with easy parking within a minutes walk hosted by Diane who made us all feel most welcome.

Absolute diamond of a property!We really enjoyed our stay. The property is comfortable, clean and well equipped. The pool is the best we have seeen in over 20 years of renting properties in France. No need to worry about the kids getting sun burnt while playing in the pool they LOVED it. Diane gave us loads of information about places to go and restaurant recommendations. There is a little corner shop, bakery and pizza takeaway/restaurant around the corner which was ideal. Plenty to do and see in the area. We will definitely stay again!!

We very much enjoyed our stay in Canet. The gîte was very comfortable, with good sized bedrooms and two modern bathrooms. We used the covered, large swimming pool most days as we are both keen swimmers - even in early October it stayed pretty warm. We also appreciated the easy access to the Canal du Midi (only 1 1/2 km) with its safe cycle tracks both towards Carcassone and Narbonne. Lots to do nearby with Narbonne and its historic centre only 20 minutes away and with good car parks in the centre. Beziers was also well worth visiting and Perpignan and Carcassone under an hour away.
The owners were very discreet but also extremely helpful when needed - especially when dealing with the aftermath of a large lorry driven by a local reversing into my new car!
