Explorers Retreat 3 Bedrooms, 2 Full Bathrooms, Sleeps up to 8
Explorers Retreat is one half of a duplex and is located inside Yosemite National Park in a small private development called Yosemite West. The home is centrally located to many of the Park's major attractions: Yosemite Valley is 20 minutes away - Glacier Point is 25-30 minutes - The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoia Trees is 35 minutes and Yosemite Ski & Snowboard Resort is located 8 miles away. Great amenities include easy, flat parking for up to 3 cars (a rare find which makes travel so much easier in every season), Air Conditioning, plus free satellite internet (not fast enough for reliable video streaming and video calling).
On the 1st floor, you’ll enter to a large open area with two benches with storage — the perfect place to sit after a day out exploring to rest and remove your shoes and boots. You’ll also find a secondary living area complete with gas fireplace, sectional sofa, and satellite TV. A guest bedroom with a queen bed and a hallway bathroom with tub/shower combination are nearby. The 2nd guest bedroom on the 1st floor has a twin over full bunk bed with a twin trundle bed. Laundry facilities are also on the 1st floor.
On the second story, you’ll find the kitchen, dining/living room area with wood floors and knotty pine ceilings. The kitchen has granite counter tops, knotty alder cabinets, gas range, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave oven. Enjoy the view from the large 2nd floor balcony complete with a propane grill and dining table that seats six. The main living room (2nd floor) has a leather sectional, gas fireplace and flat screen HDTV/Blueray and satellite television. The dining area table seats eight plus there are 3 bar stools at the island counter. Also on the 2nd floor is a third bedroom with a queen bed. There is a full bathroom in the hallway upstairs.
Explorers Retreat is one of the best locations in the park with all of the features you need to make your Yosemite vacation a wonderful experience!

The property is conveniently located in the park, which helps tremendously. The beds are a little smaller than we’re used to but comfortable. It was clean and well managed. And with a local power outage, we never had a problem with their backup generator keeping us lit up and cool. And wow, does the AC work! That’s said, for the price we paid, I expected a little more attention to detail. The coffee maker was flaky, the TV remote is wore out and only worked half the time. The WiFi was solid once we called to find out which one to use. Apparently, they were switching over to Starlink but none of the documentation mentioned that. Some of the every day needs were not provided, contrary to our other rental in Three Rivers. It’s not that anything was wrong in particular, but it could have been much better had there been just a little more effort and attention to detail. We enjoyed it, but didn’t love it.

Only note for families is that the Village Store is about 35 minutes away, so bring a cooler when grocery shopping. It was a great house for a family of 4, plenty of space and kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. Would stay here again!

The home was warm for us when we showed up the cleanliness was amazing and two living areas made it great for the family. The beds were comfortable and I highly recommend this home for a family wanting to stay inside the park.
