It has a thriving art scene with lots of galleries showing the work of local artists, a great live music scene in the local pubs and some great cafes and restaurants serving contemporary dishes including of course oysters which made Whitstable famous. There is plenty to entertain both adults and children including a water sports centre for kayak and paddle board enthusiasts as well as sailing opportunities from the Whitstable Yacht Club. Boat trips also depart regularly from the harbour during the summer months.
