El Ray welcomes up to 2 dogs, however as the property has no boundaries, please keep your dogs on a lead in the vicinity of the property. Due to the high quality finishings in the property the owner would be most grateful if guests could ensure their dogs nails are clipped prior to arrival.
The property has direct access to the sea so please ensure children are supervised at all times
Please note that if the doors of El Ray are not locked as per house information pack, £100 will be deducted from the security deposit
Please note if you wish to hold a photo shoot or a TV/film production at this property an additional fee will apply. The necessary licences must also be obtained from The Dungeness Estate. Anyone who is found to hold such an event without permission or the relevant licences will be charged retrospectively.

Oh dear. El Ray is just so wonderful. If it had two bathrooms, it would be almost perfect. And there’s so much space to do this.
But the BIG issue is that the glass doors are impossible. We just managed to open the only working window a little. We were there when temperatures were sky high and the thought of being able to open up the house made us book …….but it was impossible.
As to recommending to others, we would but only if there are 2+ strong people.
Such a shame.

We came to Dungeness to relax in this beautiful building with an incredible un-interrupted view. The space is calm and minimal with the train carriage adding nostalgia. Some of the dwellings on the beach still have the carriages as extended homes. These were used to transport the workers who were constructing the power station at the time. The architectural design is perfect living space with the sun patios to escape the wind and the lower bedroom window where you can look out over the landscape from the bed. The windows are heavy to open but this is reassuring as they are enormous and need to be substantial to protect from the weather. A joy to sit in front of the cosy wood burner on a cold, windy rainy day reading a book. Dungeness was a bleak but beautiful landscape in the rain and a cool dry still desert when the sun shone. The fish cafe and pilot pub was all we needed and prospect cottage and garden a delightful distraction. We will definitely come back.

An absolutely fabulous weekend ! Indulged in views, enjoyed the wonderful weather, and the house is just perfect.
From cooking in the carriage, to relaxing in front of the wood burner, a lovely walk on the beach and listening to the waves from the deck with a glass or two of wine, was all extremely relaxing. A great couple of day trips out to Hastings, and Rye, which were truly enjoyable. We cannot wait to go back!

From the moment we arrived at El Ray, we were completely blown away. The house seamlessly blends the contemporary with the old fashioned (a train carriage kitchen) and every view from inside the house is considered and tasteful. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely be back. With the beach on your doorstep and every comfort you could ask for, it is the perfect getaway.
