About this house rental
Welcome to Sail Away! This renovated, handicap friendly three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath vacation escape is just a short walk from the serene Yaupon and Oak Island beaches. A short 3-minute stroll will have your toes in the sand at the public beach access. Sail Away is equipped with a convenient ramp entrance and a first-floor handicap friendly master bedroom that includes a large walk shower with a ramp to accommodate wheelchairs. Moving to the second level, the first upstairs bedroom offers a queen bed with en suite bathroom, and the third bedroom with two twin beds and a half bath shared with the upstairs hallway.
As you enter the home, you are greeted by gorgeous and bright natural light, vaulted ceilings with an open concept kitchen, living and dining area. There is a wraparound sun deck with patio chairs and rockers for hanging out and viewing the island surroundings. There is plenty of comfy seating for everyone to enjoy visiting and relaxing. A great kitchen and bar area for cooking up your favorite seafood dinner with some local fresh catches. Wake up and brew a cup of coffee or tea as you read the morning news with the sounds of island wildlife in the background. Four smart TVs are also included for your entertainment. A nice, spacious, shady yard to enjoy grilling out and relaxing after a long day by the beach. Outdoor amenities such as an enclosed outdoor shower with hot/cold water.

Please Note: Linens are included with your reservation and contain the following: flat and fitted bed sheets, pillowcases, bath towels, hand towels, and wash cloths.
As you will find when selecting dates on the calendar, there are minimum stay requirements based on the season. There is a 7-night minimum with a mandatory Saturday-to-Saturday rental pattern in the peak summer months, and there is more flexibility in the slower seasons. We had to call to get door code, the one sent to us was incorrect. That was fixed promptly but inconvenient. It does have wheelchair ramp and accessible shower but could not get wheelchair over the threshold at door, and could not get around in wheelchair bc furniture was tight. Very nice house and clean. Would recommend just not for wheelchair bound. Excellent location.

We rented this house so that my mom who is in a wheelchair could come on vacation with us, and it mostly worked out! There was a ramp up to the door that was a bit steep, but we made it work. The shower, master bathroom and bedroom were awesome for her, and there was a wheelchair-accessible beach entry only 2 streets down. Unfortunately the house only had a hightop dining room table and a bar in the kitchen, neither of which worked for a person in a wheelchair to eat meals. The kitchen was lacking some basics, but the realty company managing the property was great and got us everything we needed super quickly. Overall it was a nice property and we had a great time at our favorite NC beach!

This property was nice. The closeness to the beach and the ramp were the best parts. Only complaints were new mattresses are needed in the guest rooms and there needs to be more hooks and shelving in the bathroom. It was clean and had good kitchen supplies with the exception of a colander. I would stay here again.

The management company was very responsive to issues that I encountered. Upon checkin the door code did not work, and since we checked in after dark, we did not have good lighting, and that was a bit of an issue. I called the management company and within 10 mins we were able to get in. The issue with the outside lights persisted for several days which is an issue for elderly guests such as me. Since the lights were not working properly the fact that the wall plates were not labeled made the issue more frustrating. Half way through our 2 week stay, the upstairs AC unit began to have issues, and it took over 48 hours to get it repaired. The queen bed upstairs was unlevel and had to be replaced, which was done within 48 hours. The house interior has many areas that appear to be water damage (peeling paint, water stains) and some ceiling light fixtures have a dark substance around where the fixture attaches to the ceiling. All bedrooms had vertical blinds that were in very rough shape, and didnt work very well. The management company came on day 2 to replace one of the upstairs bedroom blinds with curtains, but the other 2 bedrooms need to be replaced as well. We found 2 waterbugs in/near bathrooms which might indicate more water getting into/behind the walls. The TVs are a bit small, but workable. Overall layout was good, but has deferred maintenance that would help. Salt and Sand management company was great to deal with, and we got to know their maintenance staff.
