Apartment in Madrid
Reasons to book
About this apartment rental
Bedroom with a door, a proper kitchen with oven and dishwasher, your own washing machine, air conditioning and fast wifi.
It's not the Madrid of postcards: it's the Madrid where people actually live, with the market downstairs and line 1 right next to you to get you to Sol in no time.
THE ACCOMMODATION
It's 35 m² well used, the entire apartment for you: nothing shared and no host in the house.
The bedroom has a double bed and wardrobe, with bedding and towels already in place. In the living room there's a sofa bed, so up to four people can fit comfortably.
The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking, not just heating: fridge, oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and complete kitchenware. And you have a washing machine in the house, which is much appreciated if you're staying for more than a few days.
The bathroom is complete, with shower and hair dryer.
There's air conditioning for Madrid summers, heating for winter, television and high-speed wifi with a place to sit and work peacefully if you need to log on.
It's a small apartment with no frills, but it's been thought through carefully: everything works and everything is where it should be.
ACCESS
You have the entire house: bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom. You don't share anything with anyone.
The entrance is independent. We'll send you the instructions with photos a couple of days before and you can enter directly, at whatever time suits you from 15:00 onwards. If you arrive in the early hours or on an odd flight, write to us and we'll sort it out.
BEFORE YOU BOOK
A couple of things so you know what you're getting into:
This is Vallecas, not the city centre. If what you're looking for is to step out of the building and be in Plaza Mayor, this isn't your flat. If what you're looking for is to pay a reasonable price, sleep peacefully and get to the centre by metro in twenty minutes, it's perfect.
It's a neighbourhood of long-time residents, not a tourist area. The bars are local neighbourhood bars and the prices are too, which for many is precisely the advantage.
The apartment is 35 m²: comfortable for two, perfectly suitable for four if you get on well. Look at the photos carefully before booking.
We're a local team and we're available by message every day. We speak Spanish, English, French, German, Italian and Portuguese.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Puente de Vallecas is working-class Madrid: market, traditional shops, bakeries that open early and bars where you can still get a decent set menu for what a coffee costs in the centre.
Just outside you have supermarkets, pharmacies and everything for day-to-day life. It's a quiet area at night, without tourist noise, and with people who've lived here their whole lives.
And you're on the Atocha axis, so you have the centre within reach without having to sleep in it or pay what it costs to sleep in it.
HOW TO GET AROUND
Metro line 1 is your line, and it's one of the best in Madrid: it runs through the city from south to north and takes you directly to Atocha, Antón Martín, Sol, Gran Vía and Chamartín, with no changes.
Atocha is 3.2 km away, a few minutes by metro or taxi: if you arrive by AVE, it's very convenient. Retiro Park is 3.5 km away and the Thyssen Museum is 4.6 km.
By car you have the M-30 nearby, with direct access to the A-3 and A-4. Parking in the area is considerably easier than in the centre, although it's worth checking if there's a SER zone on your street.
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport is 11 km away, about 20 minutes by car.
HOUSE RULES
No smoking inside the house. We do not allow pets, we're sorry. It is a building with neighbours who live here all year round, so no parties or events and quiet from 22:00 onwards. Maximum 4 guests, those listed in the booking.
