Outside, the charm continues with:
Surrounding gardens
A small vineyard, typical of the Douro region
A swimming pool with panoramic views (6m x 3m x 1.50m) — open from March/April until the end of October

And the breathtaking scenery of the Douro River stretching as far as the eye can see.
If you're looking for a magical place where time slows down and nature surrounds every moment… this is the right house for you.
The house sits right beside the Douro River. Although it has no neighbouring homes, it has a small vegetable garden right in front (which also sells vegetables and fruit) and is located on the national road connecting Mesão Frio and Régua, giving it easy access to both towns, as well as excellent access to the entire Douro Valley region.
Cafés and a grocery store can also be reached with a 5-minute walk along the road. It's worth noting that this is a national road, so it does see some traffic.
What you should know before booking:
The Douro railway line runs right beside Casa da Bebereira, as is the case with many houses along the river. The trains are part of the charm, magic, and identity of the Douro Valley — they gently follow the course of the river and add a picturesque touch to the landscape. They pass by the house at fairly spaced-out intervals, causing brief noise and vibration. The first train passes at 6:00 am and the last close to midnight.
The house has air conditioning in the 3 upper bedrooms, allowing the space to be both heated and cooled. Heating for the common areas is provided by the fireplace and the wood-burning stove. Fans are available to cool the common areas.
The house has no nearby neighbours, but it is located next to the road and the railway line, so it is not a place of absolute silence. The vast majority of guests don't mention this as a nuisance (as you can confirm in the reviews), but anyone looking for complete silence, or who is particularly sensitive to noise, should take this into account before booking.
This is a multi-storey house, so it is not recommended for people with limited or reduced mobility.
Casa da Bebereira is a true Douro treasure: spacious, full of character and history, surrounded by nature, with breathtaking scenery all around. Here's the invitation for a few fun, well-spent days!
