About this apartment rental
The lively centre of Porto Santo Stefano is only about 2 km away and offers a wide selection of restaurants, shops and supermarkets. Ferries to the nearby islands of Giglio and Gianutri also depart from here. The charming coastal town of Porto Ercole can be reached in around 15 minutes, and the drive alone is worth it for the views along the coast. Characterised by imposing Spanish fortresses dating back to the 16th century, a picturesque old town with small piazzas and cobbled alleys, and attractive botanical gardens, it is a wonderful place to explore. Another highlight is the lagoon of Orbetello. Stretching over more than 1500 hectares, this beautiful natural area is a paradise for birdwatchers and offers the chance to see rare species including white herons and pink flamingos.

In Porto Santo Stefano, 2km away there is a public swimming pool.
From the gardens of Punta Nera there is access to a small public stony beach. It is not well known to the public and is therefore quiet.
To one side about 20 steps lead down the cliff to a large terraced area which has a couple of sun beds. From here there are incredible, open views of the port town across the bay and to the other side the main land can be seen on clear days across the water.
There is also a second path down the cliff to the water edge. From the gardens, there are about 50 steep steps down the cliff face to the sea which surrounds the outcrop of land on which Punta Nera is located. There is some passing boat traffic so care needs to be taken in the water.
