This is an ideal location for people requiring all the amenities at hand while the many varied attractions of the Peak District are easily available. Shop 200 yards, pub 100 yards, restaurant ½ mile.

We had a lovely week away. The cottage was well situated for things we wanted to do. Paul across the road we met as we were leaving was very friendly and checked that everything with our stay was ok. He doesn’t have a car so parking on his drive worked really well (I was worry we would have to keep moving the car/get trapped in.) and we were able to get to our car whenever we needed it. Tescos is a 5 min walk and town is very close. There is a nice play park just across the road and Alfreton park is longer walk through town. It was an easy drive to get to all the things we wanted to visit. Castleton and Stoke is around an hour, Matlock and Derby is around 30 mins. The small garden was lovely to sit out on in an evening. The house was small but suited our needs, there was relatively basic supplies/equipment in the kitchen, but we managed to make do with what was there fairly easily. The whole place could do with a bit of a deep clean, but the bedding was nice and clean. The single beds were less comfortable, but the girls said they slept ok. We had a fabulous time away.

The cottage is near a park and shops. It's well equipped and comfortable. Parking is across the road in a neighbour's driveway. The garden is down a little path and enclosed, with some lovely flowers and garden seating. It is a good base for Matlock and Bakewell area and other attractions. The only thing that needs is improving are the mattresses in the second bedroom as I could feel the springs.

The property is small, and perhaps a little dated, but was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was good for us, and ideal for a short break.
