We absolutely adored our stay at Le Gouzou and would rate it 5 stars without hesitation — we would definitely come back.
The photos honestly do not do this place justice. The apartment is fabulous — spacious, beautifully finished, and extremely comfortable. The living area is generous, and the kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, making it easy to self-cater properly rather than just “get by”.
The apartment is located in a beautiful, quiet, gated complex and is directly opposite a lovely swimming pool. Although it’s a shared pool, we only ever encountered one other guest occasionally, so it felt almost private.
The location is excellent: within easy walking distance of the wonderful bakery Pains et Moulins, a pharmacy, and a large supermarket (Super U), which was incredibly convenient.
Lolita, the cleaning lady, deserves a special mention — she is extremely kind, warm, and helpful, and really added to the feeling of being welcomed and looked after.
Tamarin itself is a fantastic place to stay in Mauritius. It’s about 30–40 minutes drive from the stunning beaches of Le Morne, 15–20 minutes from Flic en Flac, and around 45 minutes from the beautiful private island of Île des Deux Cocos, which is absolutely worth a day trip.
Overall, Le Gouzou exceeded all our expectations — a beautiful apartment, a peaceful setting, a brilliant location, and genuinely lovely people. It’s also perfect for families: we stayed with our 13-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter, and they both loved it just as much as we did. We loved it and would return in a heartbeat.
There was genuinely nothing we didn’t like. From the apartment itself to the location and the people, everything was wonderful and made the stay feel effortless and relaxing.

The property is very stylish and equipped with everything you need a few steps to residence's pool. There's a supermarket, local shops, and a bakery nearby. We were delighted with the warm croissants for breakfast every day. You need a car to get to the beach. The public Tamarin Beach is just a 5-minute drive away but we preferred the Wolmar beach 25-minute drive away at Flic'a'Flac.
