D' Love Shack

We absolutely loved our stay at D’Love Shack in Castara. The location was incredible and directly on the beach. It’s a lovely, private, and quant shack with everything you need for a lovely simple beach vacation. The owner was incredibly hospitable, friendly and helpful. He helped us set up our own BBQ on the beach and made sure we were taken care during our stay. The locals were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurants and bars are close by and were amazing. We felt very safe and at home (even at night). We went snorkelling and saw giant stingrays, tropical fish and a turtle named Steve (on the north side of the beach). Everything was very reasonably priced and affordable. If you want to relax, swim, snorkel, and enjoy the vibes of this small fishing village then D’ Love Shack is the place to be!

No air conditioning but the fans worked very well. This was noted in the booking so it wasn’t a surprise. Just something to note.

This resort was absolutely perfect for a quiet, relaxing seaside getaway. The location is unbeatable—you are literally less than 10 steps from the beach, with the sound of the waves and the ocean right outside your door. It is the kind of place where you can truly slow down, disconnect, and breathe. Taharka, our host, was exceptional. He was incredibly responsive, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay, and he has thoughtfully created a detailed guide with everything a first-time visitor could possibly need. The property is also very easy to find, and he even provides videos to help you navigate directly to the location, which made arriving completely stress-free. The shack itself is even more spacious, beautiful, and thoughtfully designed than the pictures suggest. Every detail has clearly been considered to make guests comfortable. It has a fully furnished kitchen and everything you need for a relaxing stay. The bed was one of the biggest surprises—it was incredibly comfortable, with high-quality mosquito netting and beautiful, comfortable sheets that you would never expect to find in a seaside shack. But our absolute favorite part was the patio. There is a two-person hammock where you can gently rock while watching the local fishermen and listening to the waves roll onto the shore. It was one of the most peaceful and tranquil experiences we’ve had. We could have spent hours there doing absolutely nothing—and that was exactly the point. The complimentary evening bonfires were another wonderful touch. We decided to have a fresh seaside bonfire meal, and it was one of the highlights of our stay. We enjoyed fresh fish, steak, breadfruit, and vegetables, all prepared beautifully. Taharka even surprised us with dessert. Sitting by the ocean, eating a delicious meal, listening to the waves, and enjoying the fire made for an unforgettable evening. We also genuinely enjoyed getting to spend time with Taharka.

Nothing—we truly enjoyed our stay. The only consideration is that the shack is accessed by a flight of stairs, so it may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues.

Perfect location, right on the beach. Everything you could need inside D'Love Shack and in the village - just a short walk along the beach. Great places to eat and shop for provisions. Baba, our host, was so lovely, so helpful and informative. If he doesn't know it - you don't need to! If you want a little taste of life in Tobago, in a working fishing village, in a shack on the beach, stay here. If you want 5 star waiting on - go elsewhere! But why would you! Just perfect, try it. A great place for couples, or a solo traveller. Its an intimate accommodation, the frosted door shower being on the edge of the bedroom area, and no door on the loo, but we were fine with that. I could say so much more but you need to see for yourselves!! Just do it!
