For this price, this seems to be one of the few options that offers a private room, so it is definitely a budget-friendly choice.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind. The bathroom is very small, with the shower and toilet in the same space. If you want to rest in the room during the daytime, be aware that music may be playing and it can be quite loud at times.
We also had a very unpleasant experience during the night. One of the guests came back drunk and was vomiting in the bathroom so loudly that it woke everyone up. It was especially unpleasant when we had to wake up at 7 a.m. the next morning. Of course, this was not necessarily the property's fault, but the soundproofing and the fact that the bathroom is shared/very close to the rooms made the situation particularly disturbing.
Breakfast is included and free of charge. It is prepared by the children and consists of two pancakes, one banana, and coffee. It is very simple, but considering the price, it is a nice bonus.

I stayed at Tepepul Kaan for a week and a half and it was one of the best stays I have ever had. It's a family run hostel, the amenities are amazing, the kitchen has everything you need, the beds are super comfortable and the dorms consist of 2 beds only, everything is super clean and you have plenty of hammocks and space to relax and work if you need to. Will definitely come back, like a second family away from home 🫶🏼
