The view wins it all.
Although property wasn’t easy to find, it was worth the trouble.
Secluded location, very peaceful, and best for unwinding from city life.
The café had good food, vibe, and view.
Helpful staff. Clean space.
If I were to visit again, I’d opt for a private room over the female dorm.
Reason 1: the dorm room window view opens onto some neighbouring budget homestay. Not pleasant.
Reason 2: if there’s an entitled noisy crowd in the common area, one can still enjoy the view from the private room balcony.
The property is quite tricky to reach. Avoid arriving in the dark / at night, as there may be no one to guide you to the hostel. Even the local cab driver did not know about it, maybe because it’s newly opened.
A crowd of about 8 to 10 men were having a drinking party on the terrace — the entitled, inconsiderate type.
So the “strict” rules on drinking, quiet hours, etc. seem to exist only on paper.
It was especially annoying at times because, as a female traveller choosing a female dorm, there wasn’t much space to hang out on the property, and the view from the dorm was not good either.

Stayed at The Hosteller Dharamshala for a few days and absolutely loved the experience. The property offers stunning views of the mountains, creating the perfect atmosphere to relax and unwind. The rooms and common areas were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained.
What stood out the most was the vibrant community vibe. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with local recommendations and travel tips. The common spaces made it easy to meet fellow travellers, share stories, and make new friends.
The food was delicious, the location was convenient for exploring Dharamshala and McLeodganj, and the overall experience felt like the perfect blend of comfort and backpacking culture.
Would definitely recommend this hostel to solo travellers, groups, and anyone looking to experience the mountains while being part of a lively travel community. Looking forward to visiting again!
