The property was clean and spacious for our needs. Very quiet surroundings and a very quaint village.
There were no amenities in the village such as a pub or a corner store. It didn’t affect our stay as our goal was to hike the area. But a few amenities would have been nice.

The location was perfect for us because we were visiting my mother who is in a Care Home in Adderbury, just a short drive away. It was also perfect for other activities, e.g. visiting the Cotswold villages, Stratford upon Avon (where we saw an RSC performance of The Winter's Tale... a real treat for us, living in the Netherlands!), and Upton House, the National Trust property just outside Banbury. Wigginton is perfect... quiet, surrounded by beautiful countryside and the possibility to do walks directly from The Old Reading Room, for instance across the fields to Hook Norton. I think we drove along just about every approach road to Wigginton, some one-track, others slightly wider! On Monday evening we were unexpectedly treated to bell practice at St Giles which was lovely. There's a path just across the road from The Old Reading Room that leads one directly to the little church. We sampled the excellent food at Hook Norton Brewery (lunch), had a delicious pie at the Marlstone Tavern in Milton, and dinner at The George Inn in Barford St Michael. The Old Reading Room is an extremely tastefully furnished flat... we loved coming 'home' after a day out. The bed was very comfortable, and the sitting room/kitchen area cosy. Plenty of space to put away clothes and the closet in the hall had ample hangers for shirts/dresses. The two armchairs weren't that comfortable for tall people (!) but nothing to complain about just for a week. The dining room table is on the landing, and it was a bit of a squash for us to get our legs under the table, but again all part of the cosiness of the flat. We didn't expect to be able to swing a cat! The bathroom with shower-in-bath was perfect. Both the rain shower and the hand-shower worked very well. The entrance hall is welcoming and a perfect place to leave outdoor shoes before going up the stairs to the flat.
