Disappointing

1) The owner was not there to welcome the guests upon arrival 2) The property has a fireplace. It is a HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTION to school/educate guests on how to use features such as a fireplace . This is in accordance to the South African National Building Regulations (SANS 10400), particularly Part T (Fire Regulation) of the act. 3) The SANS 10400 act was not followed by the property owners and unfortunately there were burnt marks added to the EXISTING burnt marks on the carpet during our stay. 4) Following our stay, the property owners first sent us a quote for approximately R11,500.00 to redo their entire floor. When we started questioning the procedure, they dropped the price to approximately R5,500.00. 5) The property owner is now harassing us (as the previous guests) to pay the R5,500.00 as they would like to redo the ENTIRE FLOOR. Whereas a small piece on the carpet had been damaged. 6) We took responsibility for the damage. HOWEVER, the process and procedure being followed is very unlawful and unfair for MANY reasons. Starting with the fact that we have to fix an entire apartment for a small section which was already damaged (which the owner had communicated upon informing us of the further damage done) 7) Another red flag was when they hesitated for us to visit the property with contractors to see what can be done. Instead, insisted on sending quotes with questionable information. 8) Lastly, if possible, can Booking.com not list or involve properties with irresponsible and non-law abiding property owners. We expect to be schooled by property owners on all of the amenities, particularly those that involve health and safety.
