We had a great stay at Fare Matira Hau. The views were amazing and proximity to the beautiful (and only public one on the island) beach was very close. The house was very clean and comfortable. We had an issue that the host quickly remediated to our satisfaction.

Best view on the island. Georgeous terrace, comfortable living room, a well-equipped kitchen. The bedroom is set apart, has A/C and the bed is comfortable. The bathroom is beautiful and unique. They left us coffee and kitchen essentials, which was helpful since we only rented a car for one day. It was easy to coordinate taxi pickup and drop off from Vaitape.
It is infested with wasps. Both regular wasps and what appear to be Asian paper thin wasps. As I understand, it is the season. However, the house is full of their nests and larvae, which suggests it hasn’t been maintaned properly or sprayed for insects for a long time. They brought us wasp spray when we checked in, but the house has a serious infestation and needs to be cleaned up. We would walk in and dozens would be flying around.
