Everything was good overall, but the biggest downside was that the apartment is on the first floor. You can hear the traffic throughout the night, and in the morning cars sometimes block each other, so people start honking early and for quite a long time to get someone to move and clear the way. So, unfortunately, there isn’t much peace and quiet. 🙂
Another thing we really didn’t like was the lighting. I honestly don’t understand the obsession with having extremely bright, cold-white lights everywhere — you feel like you’re living in an operating room. 😅
This is not just a matter of taste. Bright, blue-enriched and cool-white light in the evening can suppress melatonin, delay the body’s natural circadian rhythm and interfere with the normal transition to sleep. Scientific reviews have found that evening exposure to short-wavelength (blue) light can significantly affect melatonin secretion and circadian timing. (PubMed)
For a home or holiday apartment, especially in the evening, warmer and softer lighting would be much more appropriate and relaxing. Instead, here the lighting makes the place feel unnecessarily clinical and keeps the environment much more stimulating than it should be before bedtime.
