It feels like I was scammed. I did not manage to stay at the apartment as the host did not follow up
It feels like I was scammed.
I did not manage to stay at the apartment as the host did not follow up giving me the access to the apartment.
Firstly, the host demanded a deposit payment to his bank account, which I was unable to do so due to an overseas account because it was the weekend and the transfer will not be immediate. I asked to pass cash instead, but the host insisted to follow his rules to bank transfer. He then challenged me to cancel the booking, which had caused me great inconvenience as I had to immediately locate a place to stay for me and my girlfriend, but I had no choice to cancel. He ask me if I had cancelled, I agreed and showed him the screenshot. Afterwards he thanked me but he did not accept or follow up with the request. I asked him about it and my message was not read anymore and he did not reply ever since.
It was such a bad experience for me and my partner that having to encounter such an irresponsible host, had totally ruined our mood for the holiday.
I would like to receive a full compensation of our payment made, and I will bring up this matter to social media so that other travellers will not experience what we went through. I had booked countless apartments and this is the first time I ever encountered one asking for deposit through bank transfer.
