We loved the character of the property including the beautiful ceilings! The living space was very spacious, open-plan through the kitchen and dining areas with lovely views onto the canal. The bedroom is small but the bed was comfy with a wardrobe and plenty of hangers. There was also plenty of towels and extra pillows too. As the property is older and has maybe been converted from a house into an apartment at some point, the layout is a little unconventional with the shower and bath being separate from the toilet. The toilet is a very small room but fully functional. The bathroom with the shower and full size bath is also where you will find the washing machine. Again, all fully functional. In the kitchen we loved that there was a Sage coffee machine with coffee beans supplied for our stay, a luxury making this apartment feel like a home-from-home. There was plenty of crockery and it was a lovely touch that things like the hand soap etc were eco brands. The sofa in the living room was a proper, full size corner sofa very comfortable. There were a couple of blankets in a cupboard that would be handy in the winter months. The smart TV had access to apps like Netflix etc which was handy too. There are shops and restaurants near by and then only about a 10-15 minute walk to the central station and the main town so perfect for exploring. I received a detailed message from the owner just before arrival with lots of useful information about the property to make our stay even smoother. Overall we loved this property and would recommend to anyone coming to Amsterdam, it felt homely with everything, and more, that you could need for your stay!
We could hear the upstairs neighbours but this is not the owners fault of course, just the nature of being an apartment within a house. It did not disrupt our stay but feels worth mentioning.

The kitchen was great with first class knives and cookware. The shower was great. The location was perfect for walking to the grocery store and the Rembrandt House or for catching transportation to other sites. Being next to the police station gave an extra feeling of security. Washing machine was a nice touch also, along with the drying rack. And it WAS right next to the canal.
The bed was horrible. I saw the reviews where the mattress had just been replaced. But it was very low with no support. We had such terrible backaches that we decided to sleep on the couch. It was L shaped and we slept toe to toe. The commode area was much to small with no hot water in the sink. You have to access from the back, through the shower room and bedroom, which is very awkward when loading bags. Finally we paid for a place on the canal, but the owner said we were not to open the sheer curtains because bypassers might photograph the inside. Very strange arrangements.
