Misleading name, lack of basic instructions and it’s far too expensive for what you get.
The location is great. Very central, close to shops, restaurants, etc. Easy to access on foot and by car.
To start, the name of the property is totally misleading. There is no on-site parking.
We had to park in the town's multi-story car park, which added an extra 50€ to our weekend bill.
There is on-street parking, but we went during the Courmayeur Trail Run weekend (to participate in the run) and it goes without saying that there were no available parking spaces.
They are carrying out improvement works on the building and the forecourt, but the landlord didn’t let us know. We found ourselves faced with scaffolding, a temporary walkway made of wooden beams, and a door made of plastic sheets. This didn’t affect the overall condition of the flat, but it did affect where the key was kept, and, generally speaking, it would have been nice to have been told.
The toilet seat lid was broken in half and not even removed. The coffee machine (Nespresso style) was leaking, leaving a puddle of water on the kitchen floor.
There was no obvious WiFi. However, the box was visible, so we tried our luck and used the access code written on the box itself. It worked.
The worst thing was the lack of instructions for the hot water. After running 30 km, we just wanted to have a hot shower and wash our hair. Instead, we ended up showering with cold water.
After exchanging several WhatsApp messages, the host explained that the switch for the boiler is located next to the bathroom door (where the light switches are also). This switch wasn’t clearly labelled. They then told us it would take 15 minutes to heat the water. After 30 minutes, the water was still cold. At that point, they pointed us to the boiler and asked us to reset the temperature, which was set to 29°C. After quite some time, the hot water was ready.
This was the most annoying inconvenience. It wouldn’t take much to avoid this sort of situation. The host could write a note with instructions for the Wi-Fi and hot water so that guests know what to do and don’t find themselves in uncomfortable situations like this.

This property should be removed from booking.com for false advertising. It does not have free onsite parking and attempts to charge lots of additional charges last minute.
Upon booking we messaged the property on the 20th May to confirm they definitely had free parking, as my partner is 6 months pregnant and we are on a driving trip from Ireland throughout France so have a lot of luggage and we also queried if there would be any extra charges as we were travelling with our dog and it mentions an extra charge for linen too. The property did not respond until two days before we were due to check in to warn us not to bring our pet without paying the pet charges (20 euro per day) and to pay the additional tourist fees too (30 euro).
We responded, querying the free onsite parking we already asked them to confirm and they advised there is none as the parking is 'under renovation' and they just found out this fact the day before. I don't believe this at all and feel they purposely did not respond to the earlier query because they don't provide this service that they falsely advertise and CONTINUE to falsely advertise.
We asked what they would do to rectify the situation, either covering our bill for paid parking or a partial refund to cover paid parking. They stopped responding. We contacted booking.com and shortly after Refuge en Bois sent us a message saying they were cancelling our booking as they 'double booked'. Again, I don't believe this at all.
We were due to drive from France to Italy and instead we were stranded in the afternoon heat, sitting on the street having already checked out of our last place, with my partner who is 6 months pregnant and our dog, car full of luggage, with no where to go. We spent hours finding another place between contacting booking.com and finding a suitable alternative pet friendly accommodation within the budget.
I am shocked to find this property is still available on booking.
