Very spacious! Entryway is beautiful. Great location, walking distance from Owada station (10 min), and right next to a nice walking trail by the river. Nearest grocery store was only a five minute walk away. Host was respectful of our private space. It was nice that nearly all the window shutters/blinds were automated via switches on the wall. The AC units worked quickly. The host kindly set out tea and flowers upon our arrival which was appreciated.
It was dirty when we arrived. There were a ton of hairs all over my bed comforter, in the floor of our room, and the tub/shower room. This wasn’t a major issue as I was able to use the vacuum the host had provided to quickly clean it up, but it was kind of gross to have to deal with. There was black mold in the tub/shower room. The water pressure was a bit low. There was a hole in the middle of the bedroom floor which was covered by a tatami square, but it still sank in when stepped or slept on, which was uncomfortable. We didn’t have a pillowcase on one of the two pillows provided, and when we asked for a pillowcase, we were told one wasn’t available and were asked to use a towel instead. The lack of a pillowcase felt unhygienic as I’m not sure the host washes the entire pillow between guests. It felt a little odd that there didn’t seem to be a door at the top of the stairs separating the first floor from the second floor where the manager was staying; as such, we worried about being too loud at times, even though we tried to keep our voices down.
