I made this reservation 3 months in advance for an apartment in order to secure a good rate and plan my stay properly.
Three weeks before arrival, the host contacted me saying that the apartment I booked was no longer available and asked me to cancel the reservation myself. I refused, as at that point it was impossible to find a similar accommodation at the same price. The host should have cancelled on his side.
Under pressure and fearing to be left without accommodation, I reluctantly accepted a downgrade to a studio, which was clearly inferior to what was originally booked.
Once on site, the problems continued:
the accommodation was smaller than advertised,
there were plumbing issues,
the host repeatedly promised repairs or a relocation every 2–3 days, none of which ever happened,
the host claimed a partial refund was in progress, which turned out to be false.
After waiting for over a week in good faith, the host finally admitted that no solution would be provided.
On Booking’s side, the support was extremely disappointing:
calls were disconnected, information was inconsistent, and no real assistance was provided despite the issues being reported during the stay. The platform systematically shifts responsibility to the host, even in cases of clear non-compliance.
👉 Conclusion:
Non-compliant accommodation, misleading practices, false promises, and a complete lack of customer protection.
A very stressful and frustrating experience that leaves the feeling that travelers are abandoned once payment has been made.
I strongly discourage booking this property and relying on Booking to handle issues of this nature.
